Book Travelling Thursdays | Favourite Bookish Pets.

book travelling thursday

Hi everyone! Today I’m bringing you another Book Travelling Thursdays. This meme was created by Cátia and Danielle. If you would like to take part, you can find all the information you will need in the Goodreads group.

I really enjoyed doing this for the first time last week. I think its a really cool meme and breaks things up a bit and its so interesting looking at all the different book covers. This weeks topic is ‘Everyone needs a companion. Choose your favorite bookish pet.’ So I was going to choose Hedwig but I chose a Harry Potter book for last weeks topic and I wanted to change it up a bit. So, instead I have chosen Lassie from Lassie Come Home by Eric Knight. Lassie’s dedication to her owner is beautiful and its such a beautiful story. Plus, my Nana used to have a dog that looked exactly like Lassie when I was a kid.

May Releases I’m Excited About!

Hello everyone!

There are so many great books coming out this month and here are the some of the ones I’m most excited about!

Ask Me How I Got Here – Christine Heppermann.

Release Date – 3rd May 2016.

Addie has always known what she was running toward. In cross-country, in life, in love. Until she and her boyfriend—her sensitive, good-guy boyfriend—are careless one night and she ends up pregnant. Addie makes the difficult choice to have an abortion. And after that—even though she knows it was the right decision for her—nothing is the same anymore. She doesn’t want anyone besides her parents and her boyfriend to know what happened; she doesn’t want to run cross-country; she can’t bring herself to be excited about anything. Until she reconnects with Juliana, a former teammate who’s going through her own dark places.

Holding Smoke – Elle Cosimano.

Release Date – 3rd May 2016.

John “Smoke” Conlan is serving time for two murders but he wasn’t the one who murdered his English teacher, and he never intended to kill the only other witness to the crime. A dangerous juvenile rehabilitation center in Denver, Colorado, known as the Y, is Smoke’s new home and the only one he believes he deserves.

But, unlike his fellow inmates, Smoke is not in constant imprisonment. After a near death experience leaves him with the ability to shed his physical body at will, Smoke is able to travel freely outside the concrete walls of the Y, gathering information for himself and his fellow inmates while they’re asleep in their beds. Convinced his future is only as bright as the fluorescent lights in his cell, Smoke doesn’t care that the “threads” that bind his soul to his body are wearing thin-that one day he may not make it back in time. That is, until he meets Pink, a tough, resourceful girl who is sees him for who he truly is and wants to help him clear his name.

Now Smoke is on a journey to redemption he never thought possible. With Pink’s help, Smoke may be able to reveal the true killer, but the closer they get to the truth, the more deadly their search becomes. The web of lies, deceit, and corruption that put Smoke behind bars is more tangled than they could have ever imagined. With both of their lives on the line, Smoke will have to decide how much he’s willing to risk, and if he can envision a future worth fighting for.

Queen of Hearts – Colleen Oakes.

Release Date – 3rd May 2016.

As Princess of Wonderland Palace and the future Queen of Hearts, Dinah’s days are an endless monotony of tea, tarts, and a stream of vicious humiliations at the hands of her father, the King of Hearts. The only highlight of her days is visiting Wardley, her childhood best friend, the future Knave of Hearts — and the love of her life.

When an enchanting stranger arrives at the Palace, Dinah watches as everything she’s ever wanted threatens to crumble. As her coronation date approaches, a series of suspicious and bloody events suggests that something sinister stirs in the whimsical halls of Wonderland. Part epic fantasy, part twisted fairy tale, this dazzling saga will have readers shivering as Dinahs furious nature sweeps Wonderland up in the maelstrom of her wrath.

Familiar characters such as Cheshire, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter make their appearance, enchanting readers with this new, dark take on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The Girl I Used To Be – April Henry.

Release Date – 3rd May 2016.

When Olivia’s mother was killed, everyone suspected her father of murder. But his whereabouts remained a mystery. Fast forward fourteen years. But can she do that before the killer tracks her down first?

The May Queen Murders – Sarah Jude.

Release Date – 3rd May 2016.

Stay on the roads. Don’t enter the woods. Never go out at night.

Those are the rules in Rowan’s Glen, a remote farming community in the Missouri Ozarks where Ivy Templeton’s family has lived for centuries. It’s an old-fashioned way of life, full of superstition and traditions, and sixteen-year-old Ivy loves it. The other kids at school may think the Glen kids are weird, but Ivy doesn’t care—she has her cousin Heather as her best friend. The two girls share everything with each other—or so Ivy thinks. When Heather goes missing after a May Day celebration, Ivy discovers that both her best friend and her beloved hometown are as full of secrets as the woods that surround them.

Please Don’t Tell – Laura Tims.

Release Date – 24th May 2016.

Joy killed Adam Gordon—at least, that’s what she thinks. The night of the party is hazy at best. But she knows what Adam did to her twin sister, Grace, and she knows he had to pay for it.

What Joy doesn’t expect is that someone else saw what happened. And one night a note is shoved through her open window, threatening Joy that all will be revealed. Now the anonymous blackmailer starts using Joy to expose the secrets of their placid hometown. And as the demands escalate, Joy must somehow uncover the blackmailer’s identity before Joy is forced to make a terrible choice.

In this darkly compelling narrative, debut author Laura Tims explores the complicated relationship between two sisters, and what one will do for the other. It’s a story that will keep readers turning pages and questioning their own sense of right and wrong.

The Safest Lies – Megan Miranda.

Release Date – 24th May 2016.

Can fear be inherited?

Kelsey was raised to see danger everywhere. Her mother hasn’t set foot outside their front door in seventeen years, since she escaped from her kidnappers with Kelsey growing inside her.

Kelsey knows she’s supposed to keep a low profile for their own protection, but that plan is shattered when she drives off a cliff and is rescued by volunteer firefighter and classmate Ryan Baker.

A few days later, she arrives home to face her greatest fear: her mother is missing. She and her mother have drilled for all contingencies—except this one. Luckily, Ryan is as skilled at emergency rescues as Kelsey is at escape and evasion.

To have a chance at a future, Kelsey will have to face all her darkest fears. Because someone is coming for her.

And the truth about the past may end up being the most dangerous thing of all.

Book Tag | Inside Out Tag.

book tag

I haven’t watched Inside Out yet but I think it looks super cool and this tag is exciting! I was tagged by Sammie over at Bookshelves and Biros and you should totally check out her blog, I love it!

A book that brings you joy.

harry potter series

All of the Harry Potter books bring me so much joy and I know I never shut up about Harry Potter but have you read them?! The magic and the escapism is just perfect.

A book that brings you sadness.

This book was actually really sad. It was beautiful but so sad.

A book that brings you fear.

I don’t read all that many scary books but this really freaked me out. I think all the experimental treatments and just the general feel of this book is what got me.

A book that brings you anger.

I HATED this ending! I feel like the series should of ended differently and it was NOT the ending that I expected or wanted and that makes me angry. Can’t always have everything you want though!

A book that brings you disgust.

This is one of my all time favourite series but the murders that take place in all the books are pretty disgusting but maybe thats why I like them haha.

I tag.

Lauren @ Darling Bear.

Jess @ Paper Utopia.

Cate @ Shelf Pickings.

Emma @ The Book Crunch.

Don’t feel like you have to take part and I’m sorry if you’ve already done this tag!
